What is Selenite Used For?

Selenite is one of the most important stones you will connect with on your crystal journey. In fact, if you were to choose only one crystal (impossible, I know!) to keep with you, I would recommend Selenite every time. Known as the ‘goddess stone’, it’s named for Selene, the Greek goddess of the moon, and when you experience its luminosity, power and calming aura, it makes perfect sense.

Along with Rose and Clear Quartz, Selenite is one of the ‘master’ crystals, named because it not only possesses its own specific powers and uses, but also because it’s used to amplify the power and properties of other crystals. It is also ideal for connecting with, amplifying and elevating your own moods and vibrational levels. So keep some close when you’re on an upswing.

How Selenite is used in healing

Thanks to its ability to cleanse and recharge the self, during my crystal healing and Chakra balancing treatments, I always begin with a sage and Selenite cleanse to clear blockages in the energy field, and to direct high-frequency energy into the body. This pre-treatment ritual opens up the body and spirit to welcome in positive energy, promoting spiritual growth, mental clarity and to ensure you drift into a deep state of relaxation.

Selenite is frequently fashioned into wand shapes, which makes it easy to use during cleansing sessions, but you’ll also find it as palm stones, tumbled stones and in shards to add to grids, jewellery or when making manifestation jars.

Selenite for protection

If you’re looking for a crystal that offers powerful protection, you can choose to keep Selenite in your home, or slip a stone or small bag of shards into your bag to carry with you for a continual sense of connection to the divine and to feel the universe looking out for you. This powerful deflector of negative energy is particularly useful when shielding yourself against other people’s negative comments or ‘off’ vibes, and keeping your aura protected.

In the home, keep it somewhere where energy tends to collect, in rooms such as the kitchen, bedroom or living room, or near the front door, where it can ward against the vibes visitors to your home can bring in - whether they mean to or not!

If you’re ever having one of those days where you feel like you’re just not connecting with the universe; when your gut instinct or decision-making is ‘off’ or you feel out-of-sorts for no reason, take your Selenite wand and run it all around yourself from head to toe for an instant cleansing and lifting effect.
